Reducing waste and helping others

Manufacturing in New Zealand gives us the opportunity to divert as much of our waste as we can - so it doesn't end up in landfill. Here are some of the ways we do this;

Recycling and reusing

Our fabric off-cuts that are large enough, are used to make new products like face clothes and packaging for other products. We are always trying to come up with new ways of using our off cuts so if you have any ideas we would love to hear them!

Donations

A portion of our fabric and wool off cuts are donated to Jenny Bartlett, aka the Crazy Sewing Lady. Jenny uses any off cuts she can get her hands on to make things like Santa Sacks for children at Starship Children's Hospital, pillows to help comfort mastectomy patients or catheter bags for hospice patients. Off cuts that can't be reused or donated to Jenny, we cut up into rags and donate them to our local workshops and garages. We save all the little wool off-cuts when making our toddler pillows and mattresses and give some to our local kindy and schools, where they use it for arts and crafts. We also save up our cardboard sellotape inners for them, perfect for arts and crafts too!

    You can also purchase a bag of our wool off cuts here, perfect for home art projects!
